NINE: THREE SEVEN

If you've never heard of the butterfly effect, it's the idea that the wind produced by a tiny butterfly flapping its wings could eventually become a hurricane. Tiny things we do now could be monumental.

Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.

Nine: Three Seven is a brand new mission, based on the scripture above. Brooke and I have been involved in foster care for just over a year. In that time, we've had four placements. The fourth is still with us today.

Becoming a foster family has been an enormous blessing, and it revealed some very practical needs many foster families face that are unexpected. Those needs birthed a vision in us. Foster families do, of course, receive financial support from the state. But, in most cases, no support is available for four to six weeks. Most foster children arrive with almost nothing, but that doesn't mean they require nothing to properly care for. Maybe they need toiletries or clothes, or diapers, or formula. The mission of Nine: Three Seven is to help fill that gap.

We will offer a very simple application process to determine the family is a certified foster family and the placement is a new placement. Once the application is approved, Nine: Three Seven will provide a pre-determined amount of financial support per child to assist with immediate needs.

We are starting very small, with the goal of eventually becoming a 501c3 non-profit. Applications can only be approved based on availability of funds, and that's where you come in. At this stage, we're working to build a small fund in order to launch the ministry. We have a goal amount in mind. Once the ministry has been active for a few months, we plan to use success testimonies to secure sponsorships and 501c3 status.
